On Writing “A Testimony of Grace”

I can hardly believe it is finally time to release my project – “A Testimony of Grace”.

This project first began as a collection of writing I thought would be called “Candles in the Dark”. Much of the writing from that time can be found in the chapter A Light of Awakening in the final book. Then, as I began writing more and adding pieces from my journaling during and after the 2020 pandemic, I considered a title of “My Melancholy Soul”. A lot of the writing around that time went into the “A Vision of the Future” chapter of the final book. It was such a soul searching time and created a number of vulnerable pieces.

As time continued on, I had a number of pieces of my general contemplations that I wanted to share. I had the old titles and a bunch of writing, trying to see how it would all come together. Then I began contemplating memoir (as written in one of my previous blog posts) and later transitioned to exploring testimony (also touched on in a blog post).

As I let myself fall into the idea of testimony, I looked at the pieces I had and tried to understand what all I had learned in the years I had been writing and journaling (approximately the last 9 years). That is when I realized that the testimony I had to tell was a testimony of grace.

Every midnight turns to dawn, if we just hold on.

From poem Not Always

Finishing this project has been a wonderful experience. I am proud of what has come together and look to it as an anchor through my future. I needed these words and the way they fit with each other. I hope they are now enjoyed by others as well.

This testimony is meant to be a reminder of self…I must be able to tap into my knowing, my knowledge of self, my truth, and pull strength for the road ahead
