It is impossible to step into this world and to not be changed by it. As you experience different things, as you expand your awareness, as you awaken, you cannot return to the dream. This is what happens with coming of age – with the loss of innocence.
As you know better, you must do better or you stand to rot, like fruit left on the vine. As you grow, you must move on or risk breaking into pieces, like a raft anchored in the middle of the rushing rapids. As you awaken, you must embrace the new day or risk being trapped in endless nightmare.
I can still remember.
I can still feel who I was before. But I can never be that person again.
Your old self can haunt you in your memories – always a part of you, but never who you can be again. Our ghosts stay with all of us, but you must move on.
