Shifting Seasons

Ever since I have begun to slow down, look closely, and open my eyes to everyday beauty, I look forward to capturing the signs of shifting seasons. As with some of my photography categories, I began macro, looking for big landscapes to capture, but have fallen in love with the more intimate view. I also used to think I needed to travel out and find new locations, but have learned that everything I need is right where I am. Some of the best pictures I have taken as seasons shift have been right in my neighborhood, or even my very own back yard.

A leaf changing colors in fall or a new bloom in springtime is such a simple marvel. Now that I no longer feel the need to chase big scenes, taking a look right around me during those times of the year makes taking in this beauty so much more accessible. And it reminds me every time, that beauty and evolution can happen right where you are, not some far off place. And that the beauty lies in the commonplace evolution itself.

I am not sure how long these sweet moments of shifting seasons will capture my attention, but for now, I am taking great joy in honoring just another everyday beauty that God has placed all around me.
