Creation has become my playground
I have been seeing a lot of content on the power of play. Many people do not typically think of adults requiring “play” time. But, for the same reason kids play, there is an argument, that adults should as well. I agree.
This does not mean we need to build large scale monkey bars and enormous slides for all adults to engage with daily. But, there are some socially acceptable “playgrounds” for adults already in our culture such as bars and restaurants, amusement parks, vacations to resorts or cruises. You even have some of those enormous slides. I think if we allowed ourselves to look at the truth of play, we would understand how we already try to find it and expand our options for more. Play is simply escape and exploration.
I don’t think it is important how we play, but that we play. Whatever allows you freedom and joy, opportunity to wander and wonder. And we need to prioritize that play. Make time. Make space.
Creation has become my playground.
I still like to gather with others and take trips, but creation, at its core, is the most accessible and pure form of play for me. This site is a bit of a showcase for my playful creations. I look forward to continuing to try new things, with writing, photography, and otherwise. Writing has taken me into editing books, creating wall art, contemplating writing memoir. Photography has lead me to videography, fine art printing, portraiture. I know I will continue to find new related and unrelated things and this brings me joy. There is no limit to play if you let yourself surrender to it. I would recommend we all see what brings us wonder and wander and make a seat for it at our life’s table.
Go find your playground…
I think this is my favorite of all!! Beautiful.
