The concept for the “Prayers for Living” writing collection came to me on a winter night. As my spirit came upon the idea, I decided it was something I could and should explore, so I allowed myself to step down this path. The tempo and temperature of the winter season often lends to an increase in my writing, so I let the creativity that needed release craft itself around this concept.
Many of the meditations were already written, but the prayers came to me once I decided this was the collection I wanted to make. All of the things in this collection are things for myself, concepts I needed to explore, understandings I needed to work out, answers I needed to find.
I surrender the day’s end to you.
from “Burnout” in Prayers for Living
The prayer on burnout came to me as I was looking for answers. My answer to burnout was surrender, letting go of control. I have no idea where life is going to take me day to day, hour by hour, but trying to hold it all was burning me out.
…I don’t need to pretend to be a savior when I already have one.
from “Saving the World” in Prayers for Living
The prayer on saving the world came of my search for solution after solution. I often describe myself as a problem solver. Conversely, there are often so many problems I encounter out in the world that I do not hold solutions for. That paradox can rattle my spirit. But my answer came as a shift in my perspective, my role, my piece and part.
Each prayer is a journey like these. As they came to me, I wrote and allowed myself to explore their unique path. I hope this small collection can add a bit more light for anyone who needs it.
